A High School For Self Starters
What is GearUp Academy?
GearUp Academy, is a non-traditional high school that provides opportunities for students to cultivate a growth mindset and develop the social and emotional skills needed to succeed. The program balances curriculum with authentic experiences in recognizing opportunities, critical thinking, problem solving, communication skills, and entrepreneurial thinking. Under our guidance, students will:
Earn their high school diplomas.
Participate in the startup and operation of a business or develop and implement a social action project to drive positive changes in the community.
Be employed by a local business partner.
Upon receipt of the diploma, students will be equipped to launch their own business ventures, to enter the workforce, to move onto higher education, or to change the world as they best see fit.
We will help our students develop their abilities and fulfill their hopes and dreams, and do it in a way that benefits them as well as the community at large.
Places all junior and senior students in jobs with a community business partner.
Provides a safe, comfortable environment where students are respected and listened to.
Collaborates with other professionals to enhance the learning experience.
Promotes experiential learning through hands-on practice and off-site explorations.
A Tailor - Made Learning Experience
The Academy also:
Upholds high expectations and standards for each student.
Promotes civic responsibility as well as leadership development.
