Our Community
The Engagement center
In Genesee County, there are nearly 15,000 young people ages 16-to-24 who are not enrolled in school and are unemployed, also known as Opportunity Youth (OY). The Engagement Center connects Opportunity Youth to education, employment, and wraparound services to achieve financial success and independence.
SYLVESTER BROOME EMPOWERMENT VILLAGE
Our programs are housed in the Sylvester Broome Empowerment Village; a center for arts, education, and cultural programs in Flint. Students have daily interactions with members of the community who come to SBEV for events and programming. This is a value-add and asset when it comes to the experiential learning of GearUp students.
Michigan International Prep School
Michigan International Prep School has made a commitment to craft an exceptional learning experience. One that inspires and equips. One that’s shaped around the intrinsic talents and interests of the student. They use world-class online curriculum, one-on-one mentoring, and leading educational technology to empower students for a lifetime of productivity and purpose.
University of Michigan-flint
GU2L has developed a partnership with the University of Michigan-Flint Doctor of Occupational Therapy program and the Social Work program. We have two graduate students and two undergraduate students who will complete their capstone projects with us this year.
